The Port of Cartagena is made up of two basins: the Cartagena basin and the Escombreras basin, both separate and independent. The distance between them is 1.5 miles by sea and 5 km. by road.

Cartagena Basin

 CRUISE TERMINAL:
• Berth for vessels up to 300 m. in length and a 12.5 m. depth.
• Surface area of 3,000 m2.

 

 
 MARINA:
• Capacity of 400 craft.
• Yacht Club and commercial area.

 

   
 ALFONSO XII QUAY:
• Quay 400 m. in length and a 9 m. depth.
• Travelift with a 200 T. lifting capacity.

 

   
 FISHINGS FACILITIES:
• Refrigerated warehouses for fish.
• Travelift with an elevating capacity of 200 T. and an area of 7,199 m2. for the deposit of crafts.
• Ice factory (20 T/day).
• Fish market with an area of 1,425 m2, with fish preparing and packing facilities.
• 4,500 m2 for net repair and drying facilities.

 

   
 CONTAINER TERMINAL - STA. LUCIA QUAY (ISO 9001):
• Quay 385 m. of mooring length and a draught of 11 m.
• Total area: 127,174 m2.
• ISO 9001 Certification for container traffic.
• Two container cranes, one 36 T. and one 40 T.
• Ro/Ro ramp, for this type of traffic.
• Spanish Rail terminal in the port.
• Boarder inspection for third-party countries and for all types of goods.
• Capacity of 25 containers per hour with each container.
• 100 lux lighting.
• 200 power outlets for refrigerated containers.
• Unloading bulk cement facility.

 

   
 GENERAL GOODS TERMINAL - SAN PEDRO DOCK (ISO 9001):
• Refrigerated warehouses with a capacity of 7,000 pallets.
• Multi-purpose quay 405 m. of mooring length and a depth of 11 m.
• Total area: 130,616 m2.
• Shed with an area of 6,000 m2. and 50 m. of free light..
• 4 x 6 T. cranes and one 30 T. crane.
• Spanish Rail terminal.
• 60 lux lighting.
• 2 weighbridges.
• Unloading bulk cement facility.

SOLID BULK TERMINAL (ISO 9001)

 PRINCIPE FELIPE & ISAAC PERAL QUAY:
• 3 x 100 T. mobile cranes capable of operating at all quays.

 

 
 PRINCIPE FELIPE SUR QUAY:
• 350 m. in length and a depth of 13.5 m.
• Total area: 109,125 m2.
• Maximum size vessel: 75,000 TPM.
• Connected to the Spanish Railway System.
• 12 and 16 T. cranes.
• 6,000 m2. of closed warehouse.
• Receipt facilities for bulk cement.
• Warehouses and tanks for chemical fertilisers with a total area of 7,000 m2.

 

   
 PRINCIPE FELIPE OESTE QUAY:
• Berth 180 m. in length and a depth of 11.9 m. for solid and liquid bulk.
• 2 cranes, 12 and 16 T.
• Receipt facilities for bulk cement.
• Total area: 7,135 m2.
• 80 lux lighting.

 

   
ISAAC PERAL QUAY:
• 480 m. of mooring length and a depth of 13.2 m.
• Total area: 164,006 m2.
• Prepared to receive vessels up to 60,000 TPM.
• Connected to the Spanish Railway System.
• 12, 16 and 30 T. cranes.
• 5 closed warehouses with a total capacity of 19,220 m2.
• Five weighbridges for trucks and one for railway.
• 80 lux lighting.

 

   

INFLAMMABLE CARGO TERMINAL:

PRINCIPE FELIPE NORTE QUAY:
• Multi-purpose quay for solid and liquid bulks, for vessels up to 200 m. long and a draught of 12.5 m.
• Capacity of 4,000 T/h for up to 20,000 TPM.

 

 
BASTARRECHE QUAY:
• Quay 762 m. in length, with special facility for supertanker berthing of 250,000 TPM and a depth of 21 m.
• Loading and unloading rate: 3,300 T/h.
• 16 gas oil and 16 fuel oil taps.

 

   
MAESE QUAY:
• Quay 367 m. in length and a depth of 10.60 m.
• Prepared to operate with all types of gas oil, petrol and lubricant oil.
• 12 gas oil taps.

 

   
 PANTALAN:
• Berths 225 m. and 200 m. in length with a depth of 14.5 and 11.1 m. respectively, for butane tankers up to 230 m. long and a capacity of 75,000 cubic meters.
• Operates with petrol, methanol and liquefied petroleum gases.
• 12 gas oil and 4 fuel oil taps.

 

   
 ESPIGON:
• Berth 186 m. in length with a depth of 8.6 m.
• Operates with liquefied petroleum gases.

 

   
 SURESTE BERTH:
• Quay 250 m. in length and a depth of 14.5 m. for liquid bulk.
• In construction: pier with a depth of 16 m. for gas unloading.
• 2 gas oil and one fuel oil taps.
• 4 unloading arms with a 6" diameter, 2 for phenol and 2 for acetone.

 

   
 METHANE BERTH:
• Pier 445 m. in length and a depth of 16 m. for gas unloading, for vessels up to 310 m. long.
• All quays in the service area of the Port of Cartagena have a surveillance service with a closed-circuit television.

 

   
INDUSTRIAL AREA:
• 270,000 m2. for the setting up of industries related to the Port.
• Terminal for liquid products receipt, with a total area of 4 Ha.
• Escombreras Expansion: 600,000 m2. for the setting up of industries related to the port (carrying out).
