The Port Authority of Cartagena once again participates in Fruit Attraction

Cartagena, 25 October 2019.- The port of Cartagena is once again taking part in Fruit Attraction which is being held in Madrid from 22 to 25 October. In its eleventh edition, the international trade fair for the fruit and vegetable sector is consolidating itself as one of the most important in Europe.

The Port Authority of Cartagena attends this event with its own stand, within the space of State Ports. The Cartagena delegation, headed by its vice-president, Pedro Pablo Hernández, the General Manager, Fermín Rol, and the head of the Business Development Department, Fernando Muñoz, will participate in the fair, explaining the possibilities offered by the Port for the export and import of goods and showing the opportunities offered by the Port for the transport of fruit and vegetable products to the main agents of the sector.

A growing port

The traffic of fruit, vegetables and legumes in the Port of Cartagena grew by 60% in 2018 with respect to the previous year, in total this was 230,000 tons. Similar figures are expected for 2019, as 101,000 tons have passed through the Cartagena docks until October, the same quantity as last year in the same period.

The Port has a fruit and vegetable terminal adapted to the needs of products and companies for the movement of this type of goods. The dock, located in San Pedro, is 405 metres long and more than 11 metres deep. It has refrigerated warehouses with a capacity for 10,000 pallets, 385 sockets for refrigerated containers and Ro-Ro mooring, as well as a Border Inspection Point approved by the European Union.

The participation of the Port of Cartagena in this fair means, “an opportunity to show the main agents of the sector the infrastructures and services offered by the Port for the transport of fruit and vegetable products.”

The Port maintains maritime lines for direct containers with North Europe and North Africa, and it is linked with all the ports in the world by means of feeders, which facilitates the export of fruit and vegetable products to any destination.
