The Port of Cartagena, present in the International Cruise Summit
Cartagena, 28 November 2019.- The Business Development department of the Port Authority of Cartagena moves to Madrid to participate in the ‘International Cruise Summit.’ This is a forum that brings together professionals from the cruise industry at international level and in which the Port has been present in recent editions.
The event, which reaches its ninth edition and is held from 26 to 28 November, represents new opportunities for Cartagena so that as representatives of the Port they can have meetings with different shipping and tour agents.
The cruise sector, which is of great importance for the local economy of Cartagena, faces challenges and stereotypes that are debated throughout these two days that the Port Authority of Cartagena has not wanted to miss because it allows the port and the attractions offered by the city to attract visitors to be made known.
So far this year the Port has been "the gateway for more than 240,000 tourists in 156 stopovers. The 'International Cruise Summit' is considered a unique information and business platform to position destinations and tourism companies. In addition to the contacts established between professionals in the sector, it also serves to address the future challenges of this industry.
Senior executives, international executives of shipping companies, port authorities and companies and experts in the industry are present at one of the most important cruise ship congresses in the world.
Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises, is the guest of honour at the event. Within the section of the ICS talks, Emre Sayin, president of the world's largest port and port terminal management company, Global Ports Holding Inc. has also given his innovative vision of port and destination management. During the first day, the Summit was also attended by Marta Blanco, current President of CEOE International, who set out the economic and business importance of the sector in the national fabric.
During the two days, several round tables and lectures deal with topics such as "The incipient transformation of the industry", "Gastronomy as the new axis of product marketing”, "The vision, challenges and trends in shipbuilding,” which is highly topical, "Big Data: the new gold of cruise marketing", or "Sustainability in the tourist experience in ports and tourist destinations" among many other topics.
More than 350 delegates from all over the world are attending this event at the Meliá Castilla Hotel in Madrid, which has brought together speakers from the top international management of Pullmantur Cruises, Costa Cruceros, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Carnival UK, Royal Caribbean, Silversea, TUI Cruises, Cruise & Maritime Voyages, Saga Cruises, Fred Olsen, Marella Cruises, Princess Cruises, Crystal Cruises, MSC Cruises, Blue World Voyages.
