THE PORT POLICE OF CARTAGENA, AN EXAMPLE OF SOLIDARITY
Cartagena, 19 June 2019.- The SONRISAS Association: Blues, Greens and Oranges, visited Hospital Santa Lucia to bring, as its motto says, the smile to children in hospital. The action was taken at the initiative of the Port Authority of Cartagena, where a group of port police participated in the activities this Friday.
The aim of this visit is to bring a smile to children during their stay in the hospital. For this, the officers explained what their job is like and showed them the vehicles they use daily as well as the scanner truck they use for passenger control, in addition to distributing some gifts among the children, such as toys, school supplies or cut outs of police cars, ambulances or Guardia Civil cars.
The children learned about the work and got into the vehicles of the Port Police, Guardia Civil, National Police, Firemen, Civil Protection, Environmental Agents and Forest Firemen, Navy, Land Army and Civil Guards and National Police that have been withdrawn from service.
THE BLUE SMILES, GREEN SMILES AND ORANGE SMILES ASSOCIATION
The Asociación Sonrisas Azules, Sonrisas Verdes and Sonrisas Naranjas (Blue Smiles, Green Smiles and Orange Smiles Association) was founded in Madrid on 10 June 2014, and since then has carried out a project dedicated to caring for and visiting sick children, in collaboration with the State Security Forces, Armed Forces and Emergency Services.
The objective of the project, as they define it, lies fundamentally in the principle of providing joy, well-being and comfort to children who are ill, anywhere in Spain and the world to make this situation easier to cope with, whether they are in hospitals, centres or foster homes.
