THE PORT COMMUNITY EXAMINES THE INSPECTION SERVICES
Cartagena, 5 March 2018.- The Port Authority of Cartagena held the 1st Conference for Inspection Services aimed at the users of Port services, which was chaired by the head of the Operating Area, José Mª Gómez. More than fifty people attended who were able to learn in detail about the administrative processing required for the import/export of specific goods such as livestock or fresh fruit.
Maria Luisa Cuadrillero Camarasa "Head of the Customs Unit of Cartagena", in her speech on customs inspection explained the applicable regulations, as well as ENS or Entry Summary Declarations that are required for goods brought into the EU customs territory (EUCT), and that should be carried out by the carrier, although they can also be presented by the importer. A detailed analysis was then carried out of the administrative process, which must begin by distinguishing whether they are inbound or outbound goods.
Then, Carmen Hernández "Inspector for Plant Health, dealt with Casuistry in the Region of Murcia: BIP. The citrus import campaign, whose work consists in the control and inspection of both the plant as well as the products of plant origin that come from or is destined to third countries, and where the Port of Cartagena is a reference at national level. She stressed that this year the national lemon production is anticipated to be reduced by 40%, one of the main fresh products that is imported to break the seasonality, which would mean an earlier start of importing than usual. She also indicated the inspection process and the measures carried out in this type of product.
Paula Isabel Nieto Diez "Head of the Inspection Service," explained the new SOIVRE regulations (Official Service for the Inspection, Monitoring and Regulation of Exports). This service is an official control and inspection service for a series of food products subject to foreign trade, which is required for clearance to guarantee compliance with the quality standards for the marketing of fresh fruits in particular citrus fruits, fish and safety of industrial products.
To end the conferences, Javier Arques Puig for the “Border Health Service”, announced the procedures that are carried out from this service for the health monitoring of animals or products of non-animal origin that are subject to this regulation such as colourings, egg powder, etc., of imported goods and that is carried out before their distribution to countries of the European Union.
